College is supposed to be where students learn to evaluate new ideas and points of view. But in recent months we’ve seen unprecedented stifling of free speech on college campuses, with events cancelled, speakers chased off campus by violent mobs, professors forced to resign prestigious positions because of student harassment, and apathy from college administrators.
One such speaker is noted political scientist, author and columnist Charles Murray, who in March was chased from the Middlebury College campus in what Politico called the “Middlebury Riot.” Murray, the author of such influential books as Losing Ground, The Bell Curve, and Human Accomplishment, will come to Dallas on October 20 to share his firsthand experience with the lack of free speech at colleges and universities, and to contextualize the problem as only he can.
