Denton Drilling Opponents Funded By Non-Local Environmental Extremist Groups

Giovanetti: No Surprise, Clearly Not a Grassroots Movement

LEWISVILLE-- Reports released today indicate most of the funding for proponents of the Denton drilling ban have originated from non-local environmental extremist groups. Tom Giovanetti, president of the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI), a Lewisville-based, independent, nonprofit public policy organization said the following:

"Today we've learned that the majority of funding for the Frack Free Denton group has come from out-of-town environmental extremist groups such as EarthWorks.

This is no surprise, and there's nothing wrong with taking outside funds for your cause. But there IS something wrong with claiming to be entirely a grassroots movement within the City of Denton, when that's clearly not the case.

Frack Free Denton actually refused to debate me at an October 14th forum on the fracking ban because I dare to live and work in Denton County, acting as if it is very distant from the city of Denton. I'm a outsider to them because I office in Lewisville. The hypocrisy of such posturing is now apparent."
