Earthquake Program Will Be at Noon Today in Irving

Dallas Morning News

By Deborah Fleck

If free during lunch hour, this might be of interest to Irvingites:

Join the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) today at noon as we uncover the truth and hear firsthand from a geologist what’s the most likely cause of the Irving-area earthquakes.

The event features Craig Pollard, Vice President of Exploration at Cinco Resources, Inc., who has over 25 years of experience working multiple domestic basins both offshore and onshore, and holds an M.S. degree in Geology from Baylor University.

“People understandably want answers when they feel the earth shake,” said IPI resident scholar Merrill Matthews, Ph.D. “The recent SMU study suggests that injection wells may play a role in some North Texas earthquakes, but earthquakes are a natural phenomenon. Tomorrow, Mr. Pollard will examine how geology is playing a role specifically in the Irving-area earthquakes.”

The event takes place at IPI’s Irving headquarters in the first floor conference room at Tower 1320, located at 1320 Greenway Drive. The cost is $25. To register, call 972-741-2928 or email erin@IPI.org.
