Tonight's Debate: Will Romney Step Up to Plate With Bold Solutions?

DALLAS, TX: While conservative pundits and GOP strategists have encouraged Gov. Romney to be bold in tonight's first debate against President Obama and not play "small-ball," Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) experts are available to discuss whether or not the Republican candidate indeed stepped up to the plate.

"Romney initially made a bold choice by selecting vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan as his running mate, thereby underscoring this election is centered on the country's financial future," said Dr. Merrill Matthews.

"We will assess in tonight's debate whether Romney swung and missed or hit a home run with bold policies to end the fiscal crisis and tackle tax reform, regulatory and entitlement reform, and the federal debt," said Matthews.

"In contrast, Democrats have completely struck out on any attempts to even address-let alone fix-the entitlement and spending crisis. Yet they continue to attack Ryan for his proposals."

"The American people are ready to hear grand-slam proposals for ending the fiscal crisis," said Matthews. "Let's have that debate."

The Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI) is an independent, nonprofit public policy organization based in Dallas, Texas. Experts are available for interview by contacting Erin Humiston at (972) 874-5139, or erin@ipi.org.
