Repealing and replacing Obamacare will not be easy, says IPI's Merrill Matthews. “The highest hurdle the GOP faces is the potential for a Democratic filibuster in the Senate.”

Trump made repealing and replacing Obamacare one of his major campaign themes. But he and Republicans in Congress will face a number of challenges trying to fulfill that pledge, warns IPI's Dr. Merrill Matthews, author of Ten Steps to a Market-Oriented Health Care System.

Trump's tax plan is one of the most dynamic and pro-growth tax plans out there, says IPI's Merrill Matthews to TheStreet. Trump’s plan includes business taxes capped at 15 percent, which could boost business investment and help grow the economy.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration recently announced that energy-related carbon emissions for the first six months of this year are down to their lowest level since 1991.

Though Clinton’s plan attempts to address the woes of ACA, IPI's Merrill Matthews says the plan still continues to enforce them; premiums will continue to rise and insurers will desert participation. “All Clinton does is try to mask the problem by hiding the costs through subsidies,” Matthews said.

Matthews said the push for renewable fuels envisioned by Clinton "is a drain on the federal coffers." 

Protesters say the pipeline that would carry crude oil across four states to Illinois is a threat to sacred land, and to the Missouri River. But Merrill Matthews says since the government and company reached out for input, brought in archaeologists to produce cultural surveys involving land and rerouted the pipeline in different areas to avoid "certain sensitive areas," the environmental community sees fighting pipelines as a next major way to be able to try to essentially hinder the fossil fuel industry.

“Local governments are at least as capable as the feds of passing laws and ordinances that violate the presumption of liberty in the Constitution,” Giovanetti said. “Tyranny isn’t OK just because it is approved by a majority of your fellow townsfolk. Rule of law, not local control, must be the governing principle.”
