Africa taking the lead on the development agenda

So far, the first morning of the final Development Agenda meeting has been dominated by a proposal from "the African group," submitted by Morocco and supported by a group of African and Arab countries.

Haven't heard hardly anything from Brazil and Argentina, who dominated the meetings in June.

Perhaps this is a change in strategy. Perhaps the idea is that, after all the Live8 focus on African poverty, maybe a push by African countries would get a more sympathetic hearing. Or perhaps Brazil and Argentina got their hearing back in June and now are content to sit back and see similar proposals being pushed by others.
