So, here's how things got started.
At 9 am, nothing had started.
At 10 am, nothing had yet started.
At 11 am, still nothing.
At 12 pm, still nothing.
By my watch, the proceedings got started at 12:42 pm. Now, in Texas, the day is already more than half over by then, but God knows this isn't Texas.
But it's even better than that. While proceedings started at 12:42 pm, they were ADJOURNED at 12:54 for lunch.
The session resumed at 3:08 pm, and now at 4:37, we are taking a 10 minute coffee break.
The "10 minute coffee break" ended at 5:00 pm.
We are just about 20% finished with the 5 days allotted to these discussions.
Diplomacy is about NOT getting things done. Of course, if the matter at hand is a bad thing, not getting things doesn't may not be such a bad thing . . .
