Here's another guy you gotta love.
Martin Khor is with the Third World Network, another of these anti-capitalist, anti-corporate groups. He's a fanatical opponent of intellectual property.
Martin has graciously provided us with a "summary" of Day 2 of WIPO's seminar on IP and development.
I put the word "summary" in quotation marks for a reason. I'll tell you what Martin's posting is in a minute, but it is definitely NOT a summary.
What Martin has written is a summary of what HE AND HIS SIDE said. He has completely left out anything about what speakers on the pro-IP side said, save for this lovely closing paragraph:
Now, remember, I was there. I sat through the whole darn 2 days. And the most riveting, most interesting comments made in the whole event were made by these folks that Martin dismisses in his closing paragraph.
Isn't it interesting that Martin devotes 8 paragraphs to HIS OWN presentation, writing in the third person, as if he is writing as an impartial journalist? and he devotes 11 paragraphs to his colleague Jamie Love's comments? But dismisses the pro-IP presenters with the back of his hand in a dismissive last paragraph?
I've already briefly discussed the terrific presentations given by these folks that Martin dismisses. They were terrific. As opposed to busybodies like Martin Khor and Jamie Love, these folks are actually on-the-ground, creating and innovating and adding to the culture.
You gotta love these guys. They've talked among themselves for so long that they've gotten intellectually lazy, and they're utterly unaccustomed to being challenged or to even having to back up their own assertions. They had better prepare for opposition, because it's here now.
What Martin has given us is a useless piece of anti-IP propaganda that reveals the shallow intellectual level of their side.

Presentations were also made by others on "best practices in national experiences", including from the Chinese and Singapore governments, a music composer from Brazil, the director of an entertainment company in India, and the director of the tequila council of Mexico.
