In this episode of Flashpoint on WFAA-TV’s Inside Texas Politics, IPI board member Wade Emmert goes head to head with Katie Sherrod on the migrant caravan and the idea of whether the militarization of the U.S. border was necessary or simply pre-election political theater.
Emmert says it’s entirely appropriate for President Trump to protect the lengthy U.S. border using military forces, rather than simply leaving it to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. In his argument, Emmert cites not only the potential threat from the caravan, but explains that every president since George H. W. Bush has made similar moves.
